This 18-hole championship golf course was co-designed by the late Tim Zimmerebner and Jack Nicklaus protégé, John Floyd, and has been carved through the rolling hills of Calhoun. It is considered by members and visitors to offer not only a challenging round of golf but also a serene and pleasant walk in the woods.
From the back tees, Calvert Crossing plays 6.807 yards, with a course rating of 73.2 and a slope of 141. There are five sets of tees, with the Reds playing 4,856 (68.6/119).
I found the Blue Tees (6,390/71.1/133) offered a great challenge and still allowed me to leave with a little bit of dignity!”

Hole #1
Par: 5
Yardage: 569 | 548 | 512 | 495 | 471
Description: A great opening Par 5. For most it will be a three shot hole. If you have the length to take on the water on the left you can shorten this hole to a reachable second shot.
Hole #2
Par: 3
Yardage: 188 | 179 | 163 | 145 | 98
Description: A very straight forward par 3. Find the green and you usually will have a very makeable birdie putt.
Hole #3
Par: 5
Yardage: 568 | 536 | 494 | 414 | 378
Description: This is probably the tightest tee shot on the golf course. For most it is another three shot par 5, but for those that try to reach in two, there is a small pond guarding the right side of the green and a bunker on the left.
Hole #4
Par: 4
Yardage: 421 | 410 | 397 | 338 | 302
Description: A dogleg left par 4 that requires a precise tee shot for a clear second shot at the green. The second shot plays significantly downhill to a narrow green with a bunker and water on the right side.
Hole #5
Par: 3
Yardage: 189 | 163 | 152 | 142 | 124
Description: One of the shorter par 3’s we have. The big ridge in the middle of this green makes getting your tee shot to the correct yardage even more important.
Hole #6
Par: 4
Yardage: 364 | 334 | 302 | 255 | 228
Description: A short par 4 that for some could leave a very short second shot. The uphill second shot hides the green from the fairway. Beware of the creek that cuts across right at the beginning of the fairway.
Hole #7
Par: 4
Yardage: 369 | 350 | 346 | 344 | 267
Description: An iron will be the club of choice for most on this dogleg to the right par 4. There is a pond at the end of the fairway guarding from golfers getting too aggressive off the tee. This 3 tiered green makes for a challenging approach shot to find the correct the tier.
Hole #8
Par: 4
Yardage: 371 | 345 | 326 | 310 | 286
Description: Another short par 4 that doesn’t require driver off the tee. The big slope in the middle of this green will repel any shots that don’t get all the way to the top tier.
Hole #9
Par:
Yardage: 405 | 383 | 370 | 341 | 313
Description: This green is tucked slightly to the right of the landing area in the fairway and is probably the most difficult green on the course. Keep your tee shot on top of the hill and favor the left side to have the best approach shot in to this green.
Hole #10
Par: 4
Yardage: 376 | 342 | 325 | 287 | 256
Description: Hole 10 requires a decision off the tee of keeping the tee shot short of the bunker in the middle of the fairway or trying to carry it over that bunker. The approach shot is more downhill than it appears and shots tend to roll out on this green.
Hole #11
Par: 4
Yardage: 360 | 336 | 327 | 305 | 275
Description: An iron or fairway wood off the tee will be the choice for most on this par 4. This elevated green requires good distance control on the approach shot as it is narrow with a bunker in front.
Hole #12
Par: 3
Yardage: 195 | 182 | 165 | 147 | 131
Description: A longer par 3 where a tee shot on the green is always victory! The bunker on the left and the penalty area on the right are always waiting to catch arrant tee shots.
Hole #13
Par:
Yardage: 334 | 309 | 281 | 233 | 202
Description: Choose your club wisely off this tee! A well placed tee shot will like leave a short iron or wedge to this green. There is a bunker hidden in the left center of the fairway so favor the right side.
Hole #14
Par: 5
Yardage: 523 | 500 | 490 | 453 | 432
Description: A risk reward par 5 with a creek that divides the two fairways. A second shot that favors the left side of the green will likely funnel back down the green. However, there is a bunker short of the green and a small pond to it’s right.
Hole #15
Par:
Yardage: 470 | 473 | 398 | 350 | 315
Description: The number 2 handicap hole is straight away in front of you off this tee box. A long second shot that plays slightly uphill makes this hole difficult.
Hole #16
Par: 4
Yardage: 372 | 354 | 318 | 283 | 243
Description: Nothing crazy with this par 4. It’s all right in front of you. Find the fairway and the correct tier on this green and you’ve made this hole pretty simple.
Hole #17
Par: 3
Yardage: 203 | 177 | 161 | 129 | 108
Description: This par 3 is significantly downhill making judging the distance just a little more difficult. Get it right and you will have a very makeable birdie putt.
Hole #18
Par: 5
Yardage: 530 | 505 | 483 | 446 | 427
Description: This all-uphill par 5 makes for a great finishing hole. It is very reachable in two shots but you have to navigate the Zimmerabner tree that is guarding the green about 30 yards short.
